What is balayage?

If you’re looking for a balayage wig, it’s important to know exactly how to spot a balayage wig - as this is a style of colour that is often confused with ombre, or highlights for example - but these are different. 

Balayage comes from the French for ‘to sweep’, which is reflected in how the graded colour technique is achieved. When we balayage a human hair wig, we carefully select strands of hair to weave colour into by hand. The colour is applied more densely towards the end of the strands, which creates a 3D, luxurious effect.
